Supplying glass panels in various thicknesses

Osborn Glass is able to provide laminated safety glass in a variety of thicknesses to suit your needs. We stock 4.4, 6.4, 8.8, and 10.8mm – no matter your project or requirements, as London’’s leading laminated glass suppliers, we can provide laminated glass cut to size.

What is laminated glass?

Laminated glass – also known as safety glass – is a glass panel comprised of two individual plies of glass that have been bonded together with an ‘interlayer’ between them. Our experts create the interlayer from a special type of plastic (typically polyvinyl butyral or PVB), which renders the laminated glass shatterproof. This differs from fire-resistant glass, which we also supply.

What are the benefits of laminated glass?

First and foremost: safety. Because the safety glass is shatterproof, there aren’t dangerous shards left behind if an accident were to occur. This makes our laminated glass perfect for family homes with children running around.

Additionally, laminated glass will increase the security of your property or business. Its strength means that it’s almost impossible to break. If breakage does occur, the interlayer structure holds up under pressure, making it extremely difficult to push and force entry.

Laminated safety glass is also invaluable for reducing emissions. Its thickness reduces the pass-through of heat from the sun, which results in air conditioning being needed less often.

What are some uses for laminated glass?

Beyond the mentioned uses of laminated safety glass for doors and windows at residential or commercial properties, it can also fulfil the following requirements:

  • Glass stairs
  • Skylights
  • Aquariums or animal enclosures
  • Display cabinets where high-value products are involved, such as jewellery
  • Glass roofs

Laminated glass suppliers to suit your specific needs

If your shop’s displays, shelving or even flooring is vulnerable, this style of durable glass can offer peace of mind. We offer white ‘diffuser’ options (in 6.4mm) and clear variants. For shop fronts, 10.8mm glass is the most common choice. In most cases, our clients select laminated glass for secondary glazing.

This style of safety glass is not to be confused with fire-resistant glass; this is a different laminated option, which we can also supply.

We are able to supply laminated safety glass in many areas across London. Check our areas covered page to learn more, or give us a quick call.
